Edinburgh Naturist Swimming Club

Club History

As far as we are aware, we are the first club of its kind to run regular naturist swimming sessions in one of Edinburgh's public swimming baths.

The club started in March 2001 with weekly swim/sauna sessions at Glenogle Baths. We continued there for about 18 months but eventually had to relocate (our lifeguard went back to University and we had great difficulty finding another). After a short hiatus we found a new home in Portobello baths in February 2003.

However, after a few sessions at Portobello it became clear that the staff there were not particularly happy about our sessions and so we were forced once again to find another venue.

At the end of 2003 we managed to find another venue, Warrender Swim Centre, and monthly sessions started running there in January 2004. Initially these were restricted to adults only but in June 2004 we were able to resume running family naturist sessions once again.

In August of 2004 we started running two sessions per month and we have continued on this basis ever since. Unfortunately, at the end of 2004 Warrender closed for a period of one year for a major refit and so we have had to find alternative venue. Luckily, though, we were able to start running fortnightly sessions at Queen Margaret University College in January of 2005 and this is where our sessions are currently taking place.

Please check the sessions page for details of future swim session and the beach trips page for any trips to the beach taking place throughout the summer months.
